Heartathon Inspires Fitness and Resilience in Bangalore – Aster RV Hospital
Bangalore: On the occasion of World Heart Day, Aster RV Hospital organized the second edition of its signature Heartathon, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of approximately a thousand runners. The event aimed to promote heart health awareness while celebrating fitness, determination, and resilience.
The marathon featured two main categories: a 7.2-mile run and a 3.a6-mile run. The longer run was inaugurated by Mr. Tejasvi Surya, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, who flagged off the runners with great enthusiasm.
The shorter run was led by Mr. Lokesh, a heart transplant recipient, symbolizing the triumph of resilience and the gift of a second chance at life. His participation served as an inspiring reminder of the importance of preventive care and the impact of timely medical intervention.
Dr. Divakar Bhat, a renowned cardiothoracic and transplant surgeon, as well as a marathon enthusiast, originally conceptualized Heartathon last year. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed his commitment to continuing the event annually.
“We aim to make Heartathon an eagerly awaited event for health enthusiasts every year, encouraging people to adopt a heart-healthy lifestyle,” he said.
The event not only encouraged active participation but also emphasized the importance of taking care of one’s heart in today’s fast-paced lives. With heart-related conditions becoming increasingly common, integrating simple physical activities like walking, light jogging, or running into daily routines is crucial for maintaining cardiovascular health.
Mr. Tejasvi Surya highlighted the significance of such initiatives in promoting preventive healthcare. “Events like Heartathon remind us that fitness and regular activity are essential for a healthy heart. I congratulate Aster RV Hospital for championing heart health awareness and inspiring the community to stay active,” he said.
Heartathon served as a vibrant celebration of fitness, resilience, and community spirit. Participants from diverse age groups came together, demonstrating that small, consistent efforts toward physical activity can significantly contribute to overall heart health.
The event successfully reinforced the message that caring for one’s heart is not just a medical necessity but a lifestyle choice, encouraging attendees to incorporate healthy habits into their daily lives.
