PM Jan Aushadhi Yojana Brings Relief and Opportunity to Nagpur Residents
Nagpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship initiative, the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), is making a significant impact across India by ensuring affordable access to essential medicines. In Nagpur, the scheme is not only easing the financial strain of costly healthcare but also opening doors to self-employment and small business opportunities.
At a Jan Aushadhi Kendra in the city, residents are witnessing a meaningful change in both healthcare accessibility and financial relief. Individuals who previously found it difficult to afford branded medicines are now able to access high-quality generic alternatives at much lower prices.
Aditya Gaddewar, a local beneficiary, shared his experience about how the scheme has helped his family: “Earlier, buying medicines used to cost us a lot, especially for chronic illnesses. But now, thanks to the Jan Aushadhi Kendra, we get the same medicines at much lower prices. It’s a big relief for families like ours.”
Ravi Kallewar, another beneficiary, echoed the sentiment: “Because of the high prices at private pharmacies, many poor people couldn’t afford treatment. But here, even the underprivileged can get the medication they need. It has truly brought healthcare closer to the poor.”
The scheme is also a beacon of hope for entrepreneurs like Rajeshrao Rajeshwar Samarth, who now runs a Jan Aushadhi Kendra in Nagpur. He recounted his experience: “I came across an advertisement in the newspaper about the Jan Aushadhi scheme. I applied, and within just two days of submitting the application, I got approval. Officials from the scheme inspected the location and gave me the green signal.”
Rajeshrao’s pharmacy now serves hundreds of people and has become a model of affordable healthcare and micro-entrepreneurship in the city.
The Jan Aushadhi centre in Nagpur offers a broad selection of essential medicines, ensuring that people don’t have to sacrifice their health because of high costs. From antibiotics and pain relievers to medications for chronic conditions, most commonly needed drugs are available at prices up to 90% lower than those in the regular market.
The Jan Aushadhi Yojana goes beyond being just a healthcare program—it serves as a catalyst for social progress and economic empowerment. It stands as a strong example of how an effectively implemented public initiative can make a tangible difference in the lives of everyday citizens by providing affordable medical care and promoting self-reliance.
