100+ Cancer Survivors Unite to Celebrate Strength and Hope on World Cancer Day Under Theme ‘United by Unique’

 Celebrating world cancer day with a powerful message of solidarity and individuality, Action Cancer Institute Delhi organized a large-scale awareness and survivor engagement initiative mainly centred around the global theme “United by Unique.” The event held over 100 cancer patients and survivors, alongside nearly 200 attendees which included caregivers, students, and members of the general public, reinforcing the belief that each and every cancer journey is unique yet interconnected by resilience and hope as well.

The program also featured an impactful interaction of patients and educational awareness session, mainly focusing on early detection, prevention and advancements in treatment of cancer. The initiative mainly aimed to look beyond the disease and celebrate the person behind every diagnosis – aligning very deeply with this year’s global call to action.

The event was graced by special guests Ms. Pihu and Pradeep Yadav, cancer survivor and popular YouTuber, and Mrs. Rajo and her husband, both of the survivors shared deeply personal accounts of their journeys. Their journey of courage, emotional strength and recovery resonated very strongly with the audience, creating a powerful atmosphere of empathy and motivation.

Leading oncology experts from the institute addressed the gathering, including Dr. Kapil Kumar, Sr. Director – Surgical Oncology; Dr. J.B. Sharma, Director – Medical Oncology; Dr. Dinesh Singh, Director – Radiation Oncology; Dr. Suparno Chakrabarti, Principal Director – Action Institute of Blood Diseases, Transplantation and Cellular Therapy; Dr. Sarika Gupta, Director – Gynae Oncology; Dr. Buchun Kumari Mishra, Director – Gynae Oncology; and Dr. Kiran Joshi, Sr. Consultant – Surgical Oncology. The panel also emphasized advancements in the personalized care of cancer, multidisciplinary approaches related to treatment and importance of timely screening.

While addressing the audience, the medical experts highlighted that while cancer treatment continues to advance the technologies, emotional and psychosocial support remain equally critical components of healing as well. The event underscored the significance of building a support ecosystem which mainly includes doctors, families, survivors, and communities working together.

With over 100 survivors participating and nearly 200 attendees present, the initiative stood as the remarkable testament to collective strength and shared humanity as well. Through knowledge-sharing, survivor stories, and expert insights, the institute also reinforced its commitment to patient centric and compassionate oncology care.

World cancer day at Action Cancer Institute was not was not only an awareness event – it was also a celebration of individuality, resilience, and the united effort required to transform the journey of cancer from isolation to empowerment.
