Yogi Adityanath on Sunday handed over appointment letters to 1,228 newly selected nursing officers, underscoring the state government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare and supporting the aspirations of medical professionals.

Notably, out of the total 1,228 recruits, 1,097 are women while 131 are men.

Addressing the gathering after distributing the appointment letters, the Chief Minister described the initiative as a step toward women’s empowerment during the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Navratri.

He said the newly appointed nursing officers will not only shape their own futures but also contribute to building trust and compassion within the state’s healthcare system.

Highlighting the significant participation of women, he said it was a matter of pride that a large majority of the selected candidates are women, reflecting the government’s efforts over the past nine years to enhance the dignity, safety, and empowerment of women.

The Chief Minister also interacted with some of the newly appointed candidates, who expressed enthusiasm and optimism about beginning their professional journey.

He further elaborated on the government’s initiatives to boost employment opportunities and strengthen both economic and social sectors, with a special focus on healthcare improvements across the state.

“Thirty-five ANM training centres that had shut down have been revived, and construction of 35 new nursing colleges is currently underway. The government has prioritised healthcare, and the positive results are now visible,” he said.

He added that there has been a significant decline in maternal and infant mortality rates, with Uttar Pradesh now matching the national average in these indicators.

Criticising previous governments, the Chief Minister said that earlier, government departments were influenced by “mafia elements,” but the state has now moved past that phase and is progressing under the ‘One District, One Medical College’ initiative, ensuring the establishment of medical and nursing colleges in every district.
