Oral hygiene is often seen as just brushing and fresh breath—but medical research now shows that oral health plays a critical role in overall well-being. In this episode of Health Dialogues, Lt Gen Dr. Vimal Arora (Retd.), Chief Clinical Officer at Clove Dental, explains how the mouth is closely linked to systemic health and why ignoring oral care can increase the risk of serious conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, pregnancy complications, and hormonal disorders like PCOS.

Lt Gen Dr. Arora is one of India’s most distinguished dental professionals. He completed his BDS and MDS from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, and holds a Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, UK. He is also Professor Emeritus at Saraswati Dental College, Lucknow.

With an illustrious 37-year career in the Indian Armed Forces, Dr. Arora served across the dental services of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant General and served as the Director General of Dental Services (DGDS) of the Indian Army. He is the highest-awarded Army dentist, having received the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), and Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) with Bar.
