Tamim Iqbal Suffers Heart Attack During DPL Match

Bangladesh’s former captain Tamim Iqbal suffered a heart attack during a DPL match at BKSP, Savar on March 24, 2025, while leading Mohammedan Sporting Club.
Tamim experienced chest pain and was taken to a hospital for ECG and tests. His condition worsened when he tried to return to the field, leading to a suspected massive heart attack.
He was rushed to Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Hospital and underwent emergency angioplasty to address a 100% artery blockage. He remains under observation in the cardiac care unit.
The BCB postponed its board meeting. Chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury said, “He is under observation, and the medical team is doing everything possible.”
Tamim, who retired from international cricket in January 2025, is Bangladesh's highest run-scorer in limited-overs and the only cricketer from his country to score centuries in all three formats.
Fans and the cricketing community are praying and supporting Tamim’s speedy recovery.
