How World Sight Day Began
Initiated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO). First observed in 2000, the day focuses on eliminating avoidable blindness and vision impairment.
When Celebrated?
every second Thursday of October, uniting governments, NGOs, doctors, and the public under one mission: “Love Your Eyes.”
Why It’s Celebrated?
The day serves as a global call to action: Schedule an eye exam, Educate others about vision care, Support eye health initiatives.

Eye exams can uncover signs of: Diabetes, High blood pressure ,Cholesterol problems, Neurological diseases
The Everyday Mistake
Self-diagnosing online often leads to misinformation. Only a trained eye specialist can accurately detect Mild or serious issues.
Screens and Strain:
Adults: prolonged screen use causes digital eye strain dryness, blurred vision, headaches. Children: excessive screen time increases myopia risk.
Follow the 20-20-20 rule:
Every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Encourage outdoor play — 90–120 minutes daily for kids to protect their vision.

Adopt smart habits: Spend time outdoors, Eat eye-friendly foods (greens, fish, vitamins A, C, E),Blink often and rest your eyes, Schedule regular check-ups.
