FAST Test: Simple Ways to Recognize a Stroke

Every Second Counts
A stroke is a medical emergency. Quick action can save life and prevent long-term disability.
Remember FAST
Use the FAST test to recognize stroke signs — Face, Arm, Speech, Time.
F for Face
Ask the person to smile. Is one side of the face drooping? It could be a stroke.
A for Arm
Ask them to raise both arms. Does one arm drift down or feel weak?
S for Speech
Ask them to speak a simple sentence. Is the speech slurred or unclear?
T for Time
Don’t wait! If any sign appears, call emergency helpline or reach the nearest hospital immediately.
Quick Action Saves Life
Treatment works best within the first few hours of stroke. Acting fast can prevent brain damage.
