What is World Arthritis Day?
Organized by the Arthritis and Rheumatism International and supported by European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology, Celebrated every year on October 12.
Why

Theme 2025
“Move Today, Stay Strong Tomorrow” emphasizes the power of early movement and lifestyle changes in preventing arthritis and maintaining lifelong joint health.
It’s Not Just an Age Thing!
Arthritis isn’t only for the elderly hormonal changes make women more prone. Estrogenic, progesterone & relaxing influence inflammation and joint flexibility.
Puberty & Early Hormonal Swings
Estrogen helps keep cartilage strong and inflammation low. Fluctuations during menstrual cycles can cause stiffness or mild pain.
Pregnancy Relaxing at Work
The relaxing hormone loosens ligaments to aid childbirth. This can make joints especially hips & knees temporarily unstable.
Postpartum Sudden Shifts
After delivery, hormone levels change drastically. Some women may develop autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. Rest, recovery & nutrition are key to preventing inflammation.
Menopause Oestrogen Drop
Oestrogen levels plunge post-menopause, weakening joint protection. Commonly affects the spine, hands, and knees. Stiffness, swelling & pain may become frequent companions.
Tips to Keep Joints Healthy
Exercise daily — choose low-impact moves like swimming or yoga. Maintain a healthy body weight. Eat anti-inflammatory foods. Get regular joint check-ups after childbirth or menopause.
