Claim
In an Instagram post, it is claimed that Pudina, Dhaniya, Curry patta, Rock Salt and Haldi Cures Lipomas in 4 days. In the reel by dcdhyani_naturopathy it is said, "For four days, I gave him nothing but a juice made of mint (pudina), coriander (dhaniya), curry leaves (kadhi patta), and turmeric (haldi)—nothing else the entire day. No roti, no rice, no other juice, no fruits. He drank six glasses a day because, of course, he would feel hungry. On the fourth day, the lump disappeared. He woke up in the morning and said, “It’s just not there anymore!”
The reel can be seen here.
Fact Check
The claim is FALSE. There is no scientific evidence or medical consensus supporting the claim that pudina (mint), dhaniya (coriander), curry leaves, rock salt, or Haldi treats or cure lipomas that too in 4 days.
What are lipomas?
Lipomas are benign (non-cancerous) growths composed of fat cells, usually enclosed within a thin fibrous capsule. They most commonly develop just beneath the skin on areas such as the head, neck, shoulders, back, and sometimes the thighs. These growths tend to enlarge gradually and often don’t need medical intervention unless they become painful or appear in large numbers. Although typically harmless, lipomas may occasionally be associated with rare genetic conditions like multiple hereditary lipomatosis or Gardner syndrome. Less common forms of lipomas include angiolipomas, myolipomas, and hibernomas.
What are the Nutritional Benefits of Pudina, Dhaniya, Kadi Patta, Salt and Haldi?
Pudina (Mint), especially from the Mentha species, provides a range of health benefits. It is abundant in antioxidants and possesses anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, antimicrobial, anti-diabetic, and cardioprotective properties. Thanks to its low toxicity and high efficacy, mint is widely used to support general health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
Dhaniya (Coriander) leaves and seeds are prized for both their nutritional and medicinal value. The seeds aid digestion, alleviate joint pain, and help regulate blood sugar levels. The leaves are beneficial for gastrointestinal issues and inflammation. Notably, coriander contains dodecenal, a natural compound shown in lab studies to be more effective against Salmonella than gentamicin, underscoring its importance in both traditional remedies and cooking.
Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta) are nutritionally dense, containing vitamins A, B, C, and E, along with potent antioxidants. They promote digestion, combat oxidative stress, and support liver and heart health. In traditional Ayurvedic practice, they are recognized for their antibacterial, antifungal, and antiprotozoal properties.
Rock Salt (Halite) is made up of 95–98% sodium chloride, along with small percentages of polyhalite minerals like potassium, calcium, magnesium, and trace elements such as fluoride and iodine. Its reddish tint comes from these minerals. Unlike common salt, rock salt is often seen as a healthier alternative, believed to assist digestion, stimulate appetite, ease acidity, replenish electrolytes, balance body pH, regulate blood pressure, aid in weight management, relieve rheumatic and muscular pain, and boost immunity.
Haldi (Turmeric) is a bright orange-yellow spice derived from its rhizomes, with curcumin as the key active ingredient. It is renowned for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer properties. In Ayurveda, turmeric is traditionally used to treat respiratory ailments like asthma and allergies, as well as liver conditions, loss of appetite, rheumatic pain, diabetic wounds, nasal congestion, cough, and sinusitis.
Can Pudina, Dhaniya, Curry patta, Rock Salt and Haldi Cure Lipomas in 4 days?
There is no scientific evidence to support the claim that a mixture of pudina (mint), dhaniya (coriander), curry patta (curry leaves), rock salt, and turmeric can cure lipomas especially not within 4 days. While these ingredients may contribute to overall health, they have no proven effect on treating or eliminating lipomas.
Mint, a popular herb in both culinary and medicinal practices, is renowned for its cooling flavor and therapeutic qualities. A study published in Majid Tafrihi et. al. highlights mint’s extensive health benefits—such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and heart-protective effects—primarily attributed to its potent antioxidant properties, minimal toxicity, and high effectiveness.
Coriander, traditionally esteemed for its healing attributes, now finds support in modern research. The study by Supaluk Prachayasittikul et. al. identifies a range of phytochemicals in coriander that contribute to its antioxidant, cholesterol-lowering, blood sugar-regulating, blood pressure-reducing, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory actions.
Curry patta, a common ingredient in Indian cooking, offers more than just flavor. A review by Dipika Bhusal et. al. points to its strong antibacterial, antifungal, and antiprotozoal properties, particularly concentrated in its leaves, stems, bark, and essential oils.
Rock salt, often used in traditional health practices, provides benefits that go beyond taste enhancement. As noted by Apurbo Sarker, et. al., it aids metabolism, improves water absorption in the gut, and enhances the body's ability to absorb nutrients and minerals—supporting overall health.
Turmeric, known for its distinctive golden color and extensive use in traditional medicine, offers a wide array of health-promoting effects. According to an article published in Frontiers In Pharmacology turmeric demonstrates anti-inflammatory, cholesterol-lowering, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiviral, and antivenom properties.
Dr. S.C. Bharija, Senior Consultant, Dermatology, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in a conversation with Health Dialogues Fact Check Team said, "While ingredients such as pudina (mint), dhaniya (coriander), curry patta (curry leaves), rock salt, and turmeric do offer various health benefits, there is no scientific evidence or established medical consensus indicating that they can treat, shrink, or influence the development of lipomas.
It is not true that a lipoma can disappear in four days. How could lipomas vanish in such a short time just by eating certain leaves or remedies? Fat does not dissolve so easily, and the fatty tissue that forms a lipoma is very difficult to break down. Once developed, lipomas usually persist for life. There is nothing that can dissolve them through medicines or home remedies. The only way to remove a lipoma is through surgical excision.
When a lipoma grows large or causes discomfort, it can be surgically removed. Otherwise, if a lipoma remains under the skin, it usually does not cause any harm or health consequences. They are benign, do not affect internal organs, and are generally harmless. The main concern is cosmetic—if the lump becomes large or visible, it may look unsightly.
So, the only effective treatment is removal through surgery."
Dr. Rishi Parashar, Chairperson, Dermatology Department, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, further said, "A lipoma is a lump of fatty tissue that grows just under the skin.
Most lipomas aren’t painful and don't cause health problems so they rarely need treatment. If a lipoma is bothering you, your provider can remove it.
No scientific evidence or medical consensus supports this remedy. These herbs do not shrink or treat lipomas. Hence, the claim is totally fraudulent. Action should be taken against quacks propagating these lies!"
