Hyderabad: As the world steps into 2025, the New Year serves as a reminder to prioritize the most valuable asset we possess—our health. Amid rising concerns about stress, poor diets, and sedentary lifestyles, leading medical professionals are emphasizing the urgent need for preventive healthcare, according to IANS.

Neglecting health not only impacts physical well-being but also imposes significant financial, emotional, and psychological burdens, often leaving families unprepared for preventable crises. Hyderabad’s top healthcare experts have shared actionable advice to help individuals safeguard their health and build resilience against common health challenges.

Dr. B. Bhaskar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of KIMS Hospitals and a renowned Cardiothoracic Surgeon, underscored the critical link between stress, obesity, and heart health. “Stress and obesity are among the greatest threats to heart health,” Dr. Rao stated, highlighting simple yet effective lifestyle changes like reducing screen time and incorporating regular physical activity. He urged people to prioritize nutritious food, exercise, and a stress-free lifestyle to make “every heartbeat count.” These measures, he noted, can significantly reduce the risk of heart-related complications, as reported by IANS.

According to inputs from IANS, Dr. Gayatri Kamineni, Chief Operating Officer and Orthopedic Surgeon at Kamineni Hospitals, advocated for incorporating everyday physical activities such as gardening, household chores, and walking. She emphasized that these activities not only improve joint and heart health but also break stereotypes around household tasks. “Collective efforts are needed to encourage both men and women to actively engage in these beneficial activities,” Dr. Kamineni said.

Dr. B. Kishore Reddy, Managing Director of Amor Hospitals and Chief Ortho Oncologist, addressed the dual strategy of adopting a healthy lifestyle and securing medical insurance. “Cancer and lifestyle diseases like hypertension and diabetes are on the rise,” Dr. Reddy warned, urging individuals above 40 to undergo regular preventive screenings. He stressed the importance of comprehensive medical insurance to mitigate escalating healthcare costs, as highlighted by IANS.

Inputs from IANS revealed that younger individuals are increasingly vulnerable to lifestyle-related health issues. Dr. C. Mallikarjuna, Managing Director and Chief Consultant Urologist at the Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU), pointed to stress and poor habits as contributors to kidney stones and fertility issues. “Staying hydrated, maintaining a balanced diet, and managing stress are key preventive measures,” Dr. Mallikarjuna advised.

Dr. Devanand Kolothodi, Regional CEO of Aster DM Healthcare for the Telangana-Andhra Pradesh Cluster, emphasized the long-term costs of neglecting health. “Preventable health crises can be avoided with regular check-ups, mindful eating, physical activity, and mental well-being,” Dr. Kolothodi noted. He urged individuals to make 2025 the year they invest in their health for a more secure future, as per IANS.

This collective call to action by Hyderabad’s healthcare leaders highlights the critical importance of preventive healthcare. From managing stress and staying active to securing financial protection, the advice from these experts serves as a blueprint for healthier living. As IANS reported, small, consistent steps today can lead to a healthier and more resilient tomorrow.
