New Delhi: Union Health Minister JP Nadda and other top leaders paid tribute to the medical community on National Doctors' Day, expressing deep appreciation for their dedication, compassion, and relentless service.

National Doctors’ Day is observed every year on July 1 to honor the contributions of doctors and commemorate the birth and death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy—a legendary physician and former Chief Minister of West Bengal. Dr. Roy was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1961 for his exceptional service to medicine and public life. The day was officially established in 1991 to recognize his legacy and the broader impact of the medical profession in India.

In a message posted on social media, Health Minister JP Nadda extended heartfelt greetings to doctors across the country. He praised their round-the-clock efforts in saving lives and providing care, calling them the “true heroes of our society.”

“Doctors have always stood at the frontlines during every health crisis, driven by compassion and an unshakable sense of duty. Their care, courage, and sacrifice give hope to millions every day,” Nadda said. He also acknowledged the contributions of all healthcare workers, whose continuous efforts, he noted, are helping build a healthier India.

Union Minister of State for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, echoed these sentiments, appreciating doctors not only for their expertise but also for their commitment in both urban hospitals and rural clinics. “Your perseverance and humanity are the backbone of our healthcare system,” he wrote, also recognizing the extraordinary role doctors played during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal also shared his appreciation. He highlighted how doctors remain a pillar of support in the most testing times, combining skill and compassion to protect public health. “Their tireless work ensures the well-being of citizens and shapes a healthier future for the nation,” he said.

National Doctors’ Day serves as a reminder of the vital role medical professionals play in society, often working behind the scenes and under immense pressure, yet continuing to serve with integrity and care.
