AIIMS New Delhi Receives Top National Honour for Institutional Excellence at DHR–ICMR Health Research Summit 2025

New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has achieved the top national Gold ranking for Overall Performance and Institutional Excellence at the 2nd DHR–ICMR Health Research Excellence Summit 2025, held in New Delhi.

The event, organised by the Department of Health Research (DHR) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), was inaugurated by Smt. Anupriya Singh Patel, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, delivered the keynote address.

Dr V. K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, alongside senior officials, scientists, and institutional leaders from across India.

In her address, the Minister highlighted India’s rising global reputation in health research and innovation, citing key national achievements such as MedTech Mitra, Rotavac, and COVID-19 vaccines as milestones of self-reliance and scientific progress.

She reaffirmed the government’s vision to ensure that the outcomes of health research benefit every citizen.

The Gold award to AIIMS New Delhi recognises its outstanding performance across several parameters — including research quality, innovation, translational impact, public health relevance, capacity building, and national collaborations. AIIMS’ track record in high-impact publications, development of new diagnostics and therapies, contribution to policy-making, and mentorship of young scientists has positioned it as India’s premier health research institution.

Prof. M. Srinivas, Director, AIIMS New Delhi, expressed pride in the recognition, saying,

“This national Gold ranking reflects AIIMS’ collective pursuit of excellence in science, service, and innovation. It is a proud moment for the entire AIIMS community.”

With this honour, AIIMS New Delhi continues to lead the nation in research, clinical excellence, and innovation, driving India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
