New Delhi: Apollo Hospitals has introduced the Apollo Joint Preservation Program, a new initiative aimed at redefining joint care through early intervention and personalized treatment. The program is designed to help patients with joint pain, arthritis, inflammatory conditions, and ligament injuries maintain mobility while delaying or avoiding invasive procedures.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals, emphasized the program’s patient-focused approach. “The Joint Preservation Program at Apollo is built around patient comfort and support, designed to benefit individuals of all ages who may not be aware of the treatment options available for joint pain or degeneration. Through this unique program, our team of specialists will focus on '3 Ts': Tailored advice, Treatment (both medical and surgical), and Therapies (including rehabilitation, nutrition, and alternative therapies). By prioritizing joint function optimization, we want to empower individuals to maintain an active lifestyle and continue doing what they love.”

The program offers comprehensive treatment plans that include lifestyle modifications, physiotherapy, weight management, regenerative therapies like PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and stem cell injections, and minimally invasive surgical options for patients with mechanical joint issues.

At Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi, the initiative takes a holistic, patient-centric approach. Dr Rajesh Malhotra, Senior Consultant - Orthopaedic Surgeon, stated, “Our program focuses on pain relief and improved function through non-invasive and minimally invasive pain management techniques, regenerative therapies, and joint-preserving surgeries like arthroscopic debridement, high tibial osteotomy, and partial knee replacements. By prioritizing early interventions, we help patients maintain joint function and enjoy an active, pain-free lifestyle.”

Adding to this, Dr Harvind Tandon, Senior Consultant & Clinical Advisor, Adult Joint Reconstruction Surgeon, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, highlighted the program’s emphasis on support services, including rehabilitation, physiotherapy, nutritional counseling, and alternative therapies like yoga. “This initiative creates a supportive environment where patients can seek help without fear of unnecessary procedures, ensuring they regain control over their lives. A joint replacement should be done only if absolutely necessary due to advanced joint conditions.”

The program integrates advanced Orthobiologic therapies and regenerative treatments to improve joint health. PRP injections leverage the body’s healing capacity, while stem cell treatments aim to regenerate cartilage and restore joint function.

Surgical options like osteotomies, ligament reconstructions, and Unicondylar Knee Replacement (UKR) are available for patients needing further intervention while preserving as much of the natural joint as possible.

With the Apollo Joint Preservation Program, Apollo Hospitals aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals by offering a range of treatment options that support long-term joint health and mobility, ensuring that patients can continue to lead active, fulfilling lives.
