Panaji: HCG, one of India’s largest cancer care networks, has launched outpatient (OPD) consultations in Goa, aiming to make specialized cancer treatment more accessible to local patients. In collaboration with local hospitals, leading oncologists from HCG Cancer Centre Bangalore, including Dr. Raghunath SK, Senior Consultant in Uro-Oncology, and Dr. Natraj, Senior Consultant in Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), will provide weekly OPD consultations at Campal Clinic in St. Inez, Miramar, Panjim, and Royal Hospital in Aquem, Margao. This initiative seeks to bring high-quality cancer care closer to Goa’s patients, enabling them to access specialized treatments and expert oncologists without having to travel far from home.

Under the Mediclaim Goa Scheme, patients will have access to advanced cancer treatments such as robotic surgery, liver transplants, CyberKnife, tomotherapy, BMT, Ethos therapy, and nuclear medicine (NMD). This government-supported scheme allows patients to receive care without upfront payments, reducing financial burdens and minimizing waiting times. By integrating this initiative with the Mediclaim Goa Scheme, HCG aims to alleviate the economic barriers that often hinder timely treatment.

HCG’s expansion into Goa is designed to promote early cancer detection, raise awareness, and increase access to a variety of treatment options. This move aligns with HCG’s commitment to delivering efficient, patient-centric cancer care that is both swift and effective. According to Ms. Manisha Kumar, Chief Operating Officer of Karnataka for Healthcare Global Enterprises Limited, the initiative represents a crucial step in making advanced oncology care available to local communities. "Our team of experienced oncologists from HCG Cancer Centre Bangalore is dedicated to delivering comprehensive cancer care in Goa, ensuring patients can access expert guidance and treatment options close to home,” she stated. “We are excited about the positive impact this initiative will have on the lives of cancer patients and their families in Goa.”

Dr. Raghunath SK emphasized the importance of providing high-standard cancer treatment within Goa, especially given the rising incidence of cancer. “With our expanded presence, patients no longer need to travel far for quality care. Since April 2024, HCG has offered treatments such as robotic surgery, radiation therapy, interventional radiology, and chemotherapy in Goa,” he said. "Our weekly OPD consultations ensure timely detection and intervention, which can greatly enhance outcomes."

Dr. Natraj highlighted the need for early detection and access to quality treatment in addressing the rising number of cancer cases. “Our presence in Goa allows us to address these needs effectively. By promoting awareness and regular screenings, we aim to empower patients to seek timely help,” he noted. HCG remains committed to providing cutting-edge oncology care in Goa, improving survival rates, and enhancing overall community health.

With state-of-the-art technology, including CyberKnife S7, PET-CT, genomics, and low-dose immunotherapy, HCG Cancer Centre Bangalore has delivered top-tier cancer care since its inception, prioritizing patient outcomes and personalized treatment plans.
