Bengaluru : To address the growing burden of cancer and make advanced oncology care more accessible in southern India, SPARSH Group of Hospitals has launched the SPARSH Institute of Cancer Care at its 300 bed facility on Hennur Road, Bengaluru.

The new Institute combines advanced medical technology, multidisciplinary expertise, and compassionate care, reinforcing SPARSH’s mission to make quality cancer treatment accessible to all.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr Shiva Rajkumar and Ms Prema, popular figures from the Kannada film industry, along with Justice Shivaraj V Patil, Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, and Dr Shekar Patil, Director Oncology Services, SPARSH Hospitals.

Sharing his experience, Dr Shiva Rajkumar said, “Hospitals play a vital role in restoring hope among patients, especially those battling cancer. When I was fighting cancer, it was the hospital, doctors, my family, and the people of Karnataka who gave me strength and renewed my hope.”

The event brought together leading oncologists, cancer survivors, and healthcare professionals, marking SPARSH’s formal entry into integrated cancer care and adding a major specialty to its expanding healthcare network.

Speaking at the event, Dr Sharan Shivaraj Patil, Chairman, SPARSH Group of Hospitals, said, “We are privileged to dedicate this platform to cancer care. Our mission goes beyond treatment we are equally focused on cancer prevention. Within the next year, SPARSH plans to establish two more cancer institutes in Bengaluru.”

Comprehensive Oncology Services

The SPARSH Institute of Cancer Care offers a full range of oncology services, including: Nuclear Medicine , Medical, Surgical, and Radiation Oncology ,Haematology & Haemato-Oncology (Adult & Paediatric) ,Palliative & Supportive Care.

The Institute is equipped with PET-CT and MRI scanners, modular oncology operation theatres, a linear accelerator for precision radiation therapy, and dedicated Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) suites with HEPA-filtered rooms.

It also features a Chemotherapy Day Care Unit, Onco-Pathology & Molecular Testing Lab, Comprehensive Clinical Laboratory, and a Central Venous Catheter (CVC) Clinic creating a single destination for cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.

Focus on Awareness and Early Detection

SPARSH leaders highlighted the importance of early detection and regular screening, particularly for breast, cervical, prostate, and colorectal cancers, which are on the rise in India. The hospital plans to conduct city-wide awareness programs, free screening camps, and survivor support activities to promote early diagnosis and prevention.
