Leh Resident Undergoes Successful Free Heart Surgery at Sai Heart Hospital, Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad: 58 year old taxi driver from Leh, Mr. Urgen Chonjor, was living a simple and peaceful life with his wife, children, and elderly mother. But after the terrorist attack at Pahalgam, tourism in Leh came to a standstill and his life suddenly changed. Losing his primary source of income, the family fell into financial crisis.
Meanwhile, Mr. Urgen began experiencing difficulty in breathing, and upon examination at Leh hospital, he was diagnosed with a severe heart disease. Immediate surgery was necessary, but for a family broken under the burden of cost, treatment, and shattered hopes, it seemed impossible.
Mr. Urgen’s family was guided to Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital, Ahmedabad. Under the MOU between the Leh government and the hospital, all arrangements, including the travel expenses of Mr. Urgen and his attendant, were provided completely free of charge.
On 11th August 2025, in Ahmedabad, Mr. Urgen underwent a highly complex heart surgery successfully and entirely free of cost. During the treatment, the compassion and human touch shown by every staff member of the hospital left the family astonished and deeply moved.
Mr. Urgen is gradually recovering. His wife said:
