Protect Your Heart Before It’s Too Late – P.D. Hinduja Hospital

Mumbai: On World Heart Day 2025, P. D. Hinduja Hospital launches the second edition of its Unmute Your Heart campaign, an impactful heart health awareness drive. The campaign draws a parallel between everyday congestion on Mumbai’s roads and the silent congestion that can develop in the heart.
Unmute Your Heart 2.0 emphasizes the effect of poor sleep, stress and a sedentary lifestyle, urging individuals to stop ignoring the signs of heart congestion.
CVDs or Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of deaths in India, with an age with an age-standardized mortality rate of 272 per 100,000 population higher than the global average of 235 per 100,000. Indians. Indians experience the onset of CVDs a decade earlier than their counterparts in the west.
These figures underscore the urgent need of awareness, early detection and preventive care to reduce the burden of CVDs in Indian population.
Unmute your Heart 2.0 brings the conversation of heart health directly to Mumbaikars through on-ground activations at three of the city’s busiest traffic junctions: HP Junction, Bandra, St Michael’s Church, Mahim and City Bakery, Worli.
Look walkers will appear wearing T-shirts that ask, ‘Is the congestion in your heart worse than this?’ and a scannable QR code. The QR code will guide citizens to the campaign microsite with all information about taking care of their heart health.
The first 150 individuals to scan the code will be rewarded with free heart health checks to emphasize the importance of proactive care.
Speaking on the launch, Mr. Gautam Khanna, CEO, P. D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC, said, “At P. D. Hinduja Hospital, we are trying to address the growing burden of cardiovascular diseases in India.
With the Unmute Your Heart campaign, we are bringing the conversation to the people of Mumbai, showing how congestions in our hearts should not be ignored. Our aim is to create awareness, empower individuals with the necessary knowledge to take preventive steps and encourage regular checkups.”
Dr. C. K. Ponde, Section Head – Invasive & Non-Invasive, Consultant - Cardiologist, P. D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC, said, “Rapid urbanization coupled with unhealthy lifestyle and increasing stress levels have led to a cardiovascular epidemic in India.
These diseases often develop silently with symptoms which are largely ignored by individuals. Unmute you Heart is a chance to make Mumbaikars aware of these hidden risks, help them recognize symptoms and lead a heart healthy lifestyle. Our goal is to help individuals listen to their heart today for a healthier future.”
With Unmute your Heart 2.0, P. D. Hinduja Hospital wishes to strengthen its mission of driving preventive healthcare beyond hospital walls and into the daily lives of citizens. Along with on-ground activations, the campaign also reaches out individuals through radio, hoardings, social media and campaign microsite www.unmuteyourheart.in.
The campaign combines awareness with action, urging Mumbaikars to pause, reflect and prioritize their heart health.
