Doctors Save 3 Year Old Boy with Severe Pneumonia and Lung Complications

Anantapur: A 3 year old boy from Tadipatri suffering from severe pneumonia developed multiple life-threatening complications but was successfully treated at KIMS Saveera Hospital, Anantapur.
The hospital’s medical team performed a series of critical procedures that saved the child’s life. Details of the case were shared during a hospital press meet.
The case was managed by Consultant Pediatrician Dr A Mahesh, Dr C Manohar Gandhi, Dr Mounika, Dr P Giridhar, Consultant Pediatric Surgeon Dr Hariprasad, CT Surgeon Dr Sandeep Reddy, and Anesthesiologist Dr Ravishankar.
According to the doctors, the child was initially diagnosed with pneumonia and received local treatment, but his condition worsened before being brought to KIMS Saveera Hospital. Upon examination, doctors found a pus collection around the left lung in addition to pneumonia.
A Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) was performed immediately to remove the pus, followed by another procedure to restore lung and heart function. These timely interventions proved lifesaving.
The doctors emphasized that pneumonia is common, especially in winter, and early medical attention is essential. Delay in treatment can lead to serious complications such as pus formation and lung damage, which may become life-threatening. Pneumonia can affect people of all ages from new born to the elderly so recognizing symptoms early is crucial.
Hospital CEO Srinivas Prasad, Medical Superintendent Dr Habib Raja, and COO Siddha Reddy highlighted that KIMS Saveera Hospital is equipped with international-standard NICU and PICU facilities to manage critical health conditions in newborns and children effectively.
