Ahmedabad: Five year old Neema Wangdi Lama from Nepal’s Nuwakot district was born with a serious heart condition. For her parents, Shambhu Lama and Dil Maya, each day brought helplessness as their daughter remained weak, underweight, and unable to grow like other children.

The family’s modest income meant advanced treatment was out of reach. Their only source of strength was prayer. That prayer found direction when they were told about Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital, Ahmedabad, where children with heart diseases are treated completely free of cost.

Holding onto hope, the family travelled 3,400 km across mountains, borders, and plains to Ahmedabad with one wish: to save their little girl’s life.

On 29 August 2025, Neema was admitted to the hospital. Just a few days later, on 2 September 2025, she underwent a successful heart surgery, without a single bill. Today, as she walks out of the hospital with her parents, her eyes sparkle with hope and her smile reflects the joy of a new life.

Fighting back tears, father Shambhu Lama shared: “I am deeply touched by the love, care, and compassion of this hospital. You have given my daughter a new life. This is nothing short of God’s grace. From the hills of Nepal to the healing in Ahmedabad, Neema’s journey is proof of Sai’s selfless love and service.”

For over 25 years, the Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospitals in Ahmedabad and Rajkot. lovingly called Hospitals with a "Dil Without a Bill” - have been providing free cardiac care to children and adults in need.

The hospitals have signed partnerships with several states, including Odisha, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Leh-Ladakh, ensuring that patients from these regions receive life saving treatment at no cost.

Together, the two hospitals in Gujarat have given the gift of life to thousands of patients from across India, touching more than 60% of the country’s population.
