Chennai: In a significant step towards promoting community wellbeing and supporting public infrastructure, Gleneagles Hospital, Chennai, a part of the Fortis Healthcare network, has officially adopted Perumbakkam Community Park under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This initiative aims to ensure the daily upkeep, sanitation, and maintenance of the park, making it a safer and more welcoming recreational space for local residents.

The inauguration of the park was marked by the presence of Hon’ble Thiru Arvind Ramesh, MLA of Sholinganallur, along with Ms Niranjani, Chief Operating Officer of Gleneagles Hospital Chennai, who formally opened the park for public access.

Spread across an area of approximately 2.5 to 3 acres, Perumbakkam Community Park serves as an essential hub for recreational and fitness activities for the surrounding community.

The park is equipped with a variety of amenities catering to residents of all age groups. These include a badminton court, a football ground, a volleyball court, a yoga room, restroom facilities, and a dedicated play area for children.

By supporting the daily maintenance and sanitation of the park, Gleneagles Hospital aims to ensure that all these facilities remain clean, functional, and safe for regular use by families, fitness enthusiasts, and visitors.

Speaking on the initiative, Ms Niranjani emphasized the broader vision behind the adoption, stating, “Through this collaboration, we aim to extend our commitment to healthcare beyond hospital walls.

Our support for the upkeep of this important community space reflects our belief in promoting active lifestyles, environmental sustainability, and overall wellbeing for the people of Perumbakkam. We hope this initiative inspires community members to make regular use of the park, encouraging healthy routines and stronger social connections.”

This adoption reflects Gleneagles Hospital Chennai’s dedication to creating a positive impact on local communities by enhancing public spaces that foster health, fitness, and social engagement. With ongoing support for cleanliness and maintenance, the park is poised to become a model example of how healthcare organizations can contribute meaningfully to the physical and mental wellbeing of residents outside clinical settings.
