Healthcare Professionals Trained for Crisis at National Workshop – Aster Prime Hospital

Hyderabad: Aster Prime Hospital, in association with CAHO–SACKON, successfully conducted a national-level pre-conference workshop on “Preparedness for Effective Disaster Management” on Friday. The workshop was organized under the guidance of Dr. Hari Kumar Reddy, Patron, and Dr. M.V.N. Suresh, Organizing Chairperson.
The program aimed to provide healthcare professionals and students with practical knowledge and skills necessary to handle disaster situations efficiently, ensuring both patient safety and a coordinated response during crises.
Students of hospital management from cities including Mangalore, Coimbatore, and Bangalore actively participated in the interactive sessions, gaining valuable hands-on insights into disaster preparedness.
Dr. Hari Kumar Reddy, CEO of Aster Prime Hospital, highlighted the significance of readiness in the healthcare sector, stating, “Disaster preparedness is not optional; it is essential. Through initiatives like this workshop, we aim to cultivate a culture where healthcare professionals and future leaders are well-equipped to respond quickly, effectively, and collaboratively during emergencies.”
Keynote speaker Dr. Ramana Rao, Managing Director of GVK EMRI, elaborated on the pivotal role of emergency departments and ambulance services in disaster situations. He stressed the importance of conducting mock drills to simulate real-life scenarios and improve response efficiency.
District Fire Officer Hyderabad, Mr. T. Venkanna, shared his expertise on rapid response strategies, while senior journalist Mr. Rajasekhar Yandrapu discussed how the media plays a critical role in crisis communication and public awareness.
Faculty members from Aster Prime Hospital, including Dr. Harshini V, Dr. Praveen Chandra, and Dr. Koushik, guided participants through structured checklists, real-time scenario planning, and emphasized the importance of the “Golden Hour” in saving lives during emergencies.
Dr. Vijaya Rudraraju, Principal of AIHA and Organizing Chairperson of SACKON, along with Dr. Amita Marla, Director of Medical Administration at AJ Hospital and Chairperson of CAHO SEC, noted that the workshop offered an invaluable platform for students to gain practical exposure to real-world healthcare challenges.
The event concluded with a strong message on the importance of proactive planning, teamwork, and structured protocols to strengthen disaster management within the healthcare sector. Through such initiatives, hospitals and healthcare institutions can ensure that professionals are prepared to respond efficiently and save lives when crises arise.
