KIMS Hospitals, Thane, took another step towards strengthening community health awareness by organising the KIMS Monsoon Ride 5K, CPR Awareness Cyclothon on Sunday morning.

The event brought together over 200 cyclists from across the city, uniting fitness enthusiasts, senior riders, and cycling groups under a single cause, promoting the importance of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) as a life-saving skill.

Flagged off at 6:30 am from KIMS Hospitals in Hiranandani Estate, the 5 km route covered key local landmarks, including Podar School, Ananddham Shiv Mandir, Axis Bank Brahmand, Brahmand Police Station, Brahmand Circle (Kolshet Gaon), and the Mercedes-Benz Showroom, before looping back to the hospital.

The ride concluded at 9:00 am, followed by an interactive and practical CPR training session conducted by KIMS’ emergency care experts.

The event was powered by strong community partnerships, with Godhbunder Cyclists as the Event Partner, The Cycle Wala as the Technical Partner, and Flying Squad India as the Safety Partner.

Participants enjoyed a well-coordinated experience, starting with a refreshing warm-up session, punctual ride commencement at 7:00 am, and on-the-spot CPR demonstrations that cleared myths and taught easy-to-follow emergency steps.

Dr. Anil Herror, Director – Oncological Sciences, KIMS Hospitals, Thane, added: "Events like these remind us that health awareness should go beyond a single speciality. Whether it’s cancer care or cardiac emergencies, timely action is often the biggest life-saver."

Dr. Vani Parmar, HOD – Breast Oncosurgery & Surgical Oncologist, KIMS Hospitals, Thane, said: "We often see the power of early action in oncology. CPR awareness follows the same principle: knowing what to do, and doing it quickly, can completely change the outcome."

Dr. Kunal Goyal, Consultant Haematologist specialising in Hemato-Oncology, BMT, and CAR-T, KIMS Hospitals, Thane, shared: "Whether in cancer or cardiac emergencies, teamwork and preparation save lives. This cyclothon shows how a community can come together to be better prepared."

Dr. Ankit Biyani, HOD – Emergency Medicine, KIMS Hospitals, Thane, who led the CPR training, said: "In emergencies, the first few minutes can decide life or death. Through this session, we wanted every participant to leave with the confidence and skills to step in and save a life when it matters most."

Cyclists praised the event’s organisation and purpose. Team Pedal Warriors shared: "A big thank you to KIMS Hospital and Godhbunder Cyclists for organizing such a wonderfully planned and seamlessly executed Cyclothon! The CPR session was not just informative but empowering. It’s a skill every citizen should know."

Senior cyclist Jayprakash Parab added, "Events like this motivate us to stay fit and aware. KIMS’ thoughtfulness in giving every participant medals, T-shirts, and snacks shows great community spirit."

The CPR Awareness Cyclothon reinforced KIMS Hospitals’ expertise in emergency and critical care, with highly experienced doctors leading the cause. Known for handling complex trauma, cardiac, and stroke cases, the hospital continues to combine clinical excellence with public health advocacy.
