Overview

Can stroke be cured by consumption of food items such as Ginger, Garlic, Clove or Pineapple?

In this video, Dr Rahul Chawla, a Neurologist at IBS Hospital, debunks the various claims made on various social platforms regarding stroke treatment.

A stroke occurs when the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients.

This can lead to the rapid death of brain cells, causing symptoms such as sudden weakness or numbness, confusion, difficulty speaking, vision problems, dizziness, and loss of coordination.

Strokes can be ischaemic (caused by a blockage in a blood vessel) or haemorrhagic (caused by bleeding in the brain).

Stroke cannot be cured, but with proper and timely medical treatment by doctors, including clot-dissolving medications, surgery, or rehabilitation, the damage can be minimized, and recovery outcomes can be significantly improved.

Dr Chawla explains in the video that various social media claims are completely false and people should not leave medications/treatment and must not rely on these remedies.

He further shares an example of such a case where the patient who had a minor stroke and stopped taking the prescribed medications without consulting the doctor, after reading an article online that stroke can be cured through home remedies.

Consequently, the patient had a recurrence of stroke and developed paralysis of the right side.

Dr Chawla urges people to not fall for such claims and misinformation spreading on social media and follow proper treatment and medication after due consultation with the doctor.
