Overview

In this video, Dr Jaskaran Singh, Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon at Manipal Hospital, Patiala, explains lumbar canal stenosis—a common, age-related condition in which the spinal canal gradually narrows, putting pressure on the nerves.

This can lead to symptoms such as pain, numbness, or weakness in the lower back and legs, often worsening with activity. Dr Singh discusses how factors like repetitive trauma from heavy lifting, poor posture, and accidents may contribute to the development of this condition.

He also outlines the diagnostic process, which involves a clinical examination and imaging studies such as MRI to assess the extent of narrowing.

Watch the video to learn more about the symptoms, contributing factors, and importance of early diagnosis in understanding and managing lumbar canal stenosis.
