Dr Sarthak Patnaik (MBBS, MS (Orthopaedics)) is a Senior Consultant in Arthroscopy and Sports Surgery at Manipal Hospital, Bhubaneswar, with over 19 years of medical experience, including 12 years as a specialist. He is highly skilled in knee, hip, and ankle arthroscopy, with a strong focus on joint preservation. Trained at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa and the Pennsylvania Sports Centre Clinic, he has performed over 5,000 knee and 1,000 shoulder and ankle arthroscopies. A former Indian Army officer, Dr. Patnaik has treated elite athletes including Neeraj Chopra, Quinton de Kock, Ravikumar, Deepa Malik, and several national-level players across sports. He is the founder of Sports Science India and played a key role in organizing Eastern India’s first sports science conclave at Kalinga Stadium. He also served as the in-charge of the Asian Athletic Meet and has led multiple national and international sports medicine events. An active academician, he is the Editor-in-Chief of India’s first Sports Science Journal, Associate Editor of two international journals, and a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and BMJ Case Reports. He also serves as an external examiner at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
