Chennai’s VS Hospitals Introduces AI-Driven Holistic Cancer Care

Chennai : VS Hospitals, a leading centre for cancer care in Chennai, has launched HOPE Holistic Oncology Program for Excellence an innovative framework integrating targeted cancer treatments with AI driven nutrition support. Alongside this, the hospital has introduced a dedicated Department of Precision Oncology.
These initiatives aim to enhance diagnosis accuracy, reduce treatment strain, improve survival rates, and elevate the overall quality of life for patients and their families.
The launch event was graced by actress and social worker Rohini Molleti in the presence of Prof Dr S Subramanian, Senior Medical Oncologist, Founder Chairman and Managing Director, Dr Nithya Sridharan, Associate Director and Senior Consultant Medical Oncology, Dr Vijay G, Consultant Adult.
Paediatric Medical Oncologist, Prof Dr S Sundar, Director Tumour, Revision Joint Replacement and Pelvic Acetabular Surgeon, Mr Muthu Subramanian, Executive Director, and other senior staff of the hospital.
VS Hospitals has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tweak & Eat, a US based health and wellness AI firm, to deliver customised real-time meal plans, immediate dietary feedback, and ongoing nutrition adjustments during and after treatment.
A specialised Familial Cancer Screening Clinic is being run by the hospital to assess hereditary cancer risk. Using the CanRisk model and germline testing, the clinic helps identify inherited genetic mutations that can elevate the likelihood of developing cancers.
Prof Dr S Subramanian shared, “Cancer care must go beyond surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation. It should be deeply holistic and compassionate. The HOPE model combines medical precision with emotional, nutritional, and social support."
"Patients are guided through a seamless care pathway, with oncologists using genetic insights for diagnosis, psychologists managing fear, physiotherapists aiding recovery, AI supported nutritionists offering continuous advice, and social workers ensuring families feel supported."
HOPE unites care for the mind, body, and spirit. Explaining the new department’s focus, Dr Nithya Sridharan said, “The Department of Precision Oncology will offer advanced genetic and molecular testing for personalised treatment strategies.
By identifying genetic variations and biomarkers, we can design accurate therapies tailored to each patient. It also supports genetic counselling for hereditary cancers, rare diseases, prenatal diagnostics, and high-risk families.
With internationally aligned laboratories and advanced bioinformatics, we ensure faster, precise, and affordable testing. Pharmacogenomics will further help optimise therapy by predicting drug responses and minimising side effects.”
Dr Vijay G emphasised the vital role of nutrition in cancer recovery, stating, “Nutrition is often neglected in cancer care. Dietary management can significantly impact recovery, treatment outcomes, and patient wellbeing.
Through this initiative, we aim to close the nutrition gap and make supportive care more practical and holistic.” Established in 2003 by Dr S Subramanian, VS Hospitals continues to uphold its legacy of excellence in multidisciplinary care.
Known as one of Chennai’s top cancer hospitals, it provides world class treatment for a wide range of cancers, including breast, lung, liver, kidney, colon, uterine, prostate, and blood cancers.
The hospital also offers advanced multidisciplinary services in orthopaedics, gastroenterology, emergency medicine, and nephrology, making it a comprehensive healthcare destination.
