Greater Noida: Fortis Hospital Greater Noida conducted a series of Health Talks to raise awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and healthy lifestyle practices among students at Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology and GL Bajaj Institute of Technology and Management.

These interactive sessions are aimed at educating young adults on the importance of early screening and empower them to make informed health decisions.

According to current estimates, India is expected to record around 1.57 million new cancer cases in 2025. The most common cancers among men are oral and lung cancers, largely linked to tobacco use, while breast cancer remains the most prevalent among women, accounting for nearly one-third of all female cancer cases.

The growing cancer burden and late diagnoses highlight the urgent need for increased awareness and preventive action across the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jyoti Anand, Senior Consultant Oncology, Fortis Hospital, Greater Noida, said, “Awareness is our most effective weapon against cancer.

Early detection starts with knowing the risk factors and making the right lifestyle choices. Engaging with students allows us to build awareness early and encourage them to influence their families and communities.”

The sessions helped students recognise early warning signs, understand the importance of regular check-ups, and adopt preventive habits such as balanced nutrition, physical activity, and avoiding tobacco and alcohol. Siddharth Nigam, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital Greater Noida, added, “Cancer prevention starts with awareness.

Through these initiatives, we aim to reach young people and help them understand that early detection and healthy living can truly save lives. Our goal is to make preventive healthcare a part of everyday life.”

This initiative reflects Fortis Hospital Greater Noida’s commitment to community engagement and preventive care, emphasizing the hospital’s mission to spread health literacy and promote proactive screening among India’s youth.
