Haryana: Eye-Q, recently conducted an extensive survey to assess public opinions on wearing spectacles and their impact on lifestyle. The survey findings revealed that nearly half (49%) of respondents feel that spectacles have a negative effect on their appearance, emphasizing growing concerns about the cosmetic drawbacks of corrective eye wear.

The survey, conducted with 500 participants, highlighted an increasing interest in vision correction procedures. Notably, 32% of respondents expressed a willingness to consider surgical solutions such as LASIK to avoid wearing spectacles. LASIK surgery, known for its effectiveness in correcting vision, has become popular as it provides the convenience of spectacle-free vision, combining functionality with aesthetic benefits. This trend underscores a shift in preferences as more individuals look for alternatives that enhance both vision and appearance.

Key findings from the survey include:

  • 49% of respondents believe that spectacles negatively affect their appearance.
  • 32% are interested in undergoing corrective procedures such as LASIK.
  • 39% currently rely on spectacles for vision correction.
  • 20% of respondents have been diagnosed with myopia (near-sightedness), while 9.4% have hypermetropia (farsightedness).
  • 27% reported experiencing occasional eye discomfort, such as dryness or irritation, and 14% reported frequent discomfort.

The survey also shed light on the prevalence of vision problems. Over 20% of participants reported being diagnosed with myopia, and 9.4% with hypermetropia. Additionally, eye discomfort is a common issue, with 27% of respondents reporting occasional discomfort and 14% experiencing it frequently. Despite these challenges, 39% of those surveyed continue to use spectacles for vision correction, indicating that traditional eyewear remains a go-to solution for many.

Dr. Ajay Sharma, Founder and CMD of Eye-Q, commented on the findings, saying, "Our goal with this survey was to gain a deeper understanding of how wearing spectacles affects individuals’ lifestyles and self-perception. The results show that a significant number of people are conscious of how spectacles impact their appearance and are open to alternatives like LASIK for vision correction. At Eye-Q, we are committed to providing cutting-edge solutions that enhance our patients' confidence and quality of life. Our focus is on delivering personalized, high-quality eye care through advanced technology and treatments that align with the comfort and lifestyle needs of our patients."

This survey by Eye-Q reflects a significant shift in how people perceive eyewear and their growing inclination toward spectacle-free solutions, underscoring the importance of modern corrective procedures and regular eye health checks.
