New Delhi: The Ministry of Ayush will celebrate the 9th Ayurveda Day on October 29, 2024, with participation from over 150 countries. The event will be themed "Ayurveda Innovations for Global Health" and will be held at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi.

Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State, Ayush (I/C), emphasized the growing global movement around Ayurveda Day: “Ayurveda Day has now become a global movement. We are proud to learn that as many as 150 countries are expected to join Ayurveda Day celebrations 2024."

Highlighting the focus of this year’s theme, he added, “The theme of this year’s Ayurveda Day celebrations gives new dimensions to the contribution of Ayurveda to global health. Our aim is to promote Ayurveda globally as a robust system of medicine for public welfare.”

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, further elaborated, “Through the Ayurveda Day celebrations, Ayush focuses on integrating Ayurveda with contemporary science to address critical health issues including non-communicable diseases, mental health, antimicrobial resistance, and geriatric care.”

He also outlined the Ministry's digital efforts: “Ayurveda knowledge is made conveniently accessible to the public through digital platforms under the Ayush Grid, including major initiatives like Ayurgyan Scheme, Ayush Research Portal, and Namaste Portal.”

Dr Manoj Nesari, Advisor at the Ministry of Ayush, commented, “The theme 'Ayurveda Innovation for Global Health' has been specifically chosen to highlight the huge research work done in Ayurveda... This also highlights the relevance of Ayurveda for healthcare worldwide, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or geography.”

Dr Mohan Singh, Director of Ayush in Jammu & Kashmir, added, "We anticipate an extraordinary confluence of professionals, researchers, and startups, all dedicated to creating a healthier, more sustainable world through the power of Ayurveda.”

The event will witness participation from startups, industry experts, and students, further reinforcing Ayurveda’s integration into the global health system.

As part of the celebrations, the Ministry of Ayush is also focusing on initiatives like the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre, Ayushman Bharat Yojana, and the “I Support Ayurveda” campaign, aiming for over 250 million votes in support of Ayurveda.
