Precision at Its Peak: Bengaluru Surgeon’s 13 Robotic Surgeries in One Day at Kauvery Hospital

Bengaluru: Dr. Ganesh Shenoy, Director of Surgical Gastroenterology and Robotic Surgery at Kauvery Hospital, Electronic City, Bengaluru, has set a world record by performing 13 robotic hernia surgeries in a single day, using one da Vinci surgical system.
This record reflects Dr. Shenoy’s exceptional command over robotic surgery, his steady focus, and his ability to deliver consistent surgical performance throughout an intensive schedule. Dr. Shenoy emphasised that the numbers were secondary to the larger purpose, showing how expertise and advanced technology can work together to improve patient care.
Every one of the 13 individuals received customised surgical attention, with safety protocols strictly followed. All procedures were completed without any errors or complications, underscoring the disciplined approach of the surgical team.
Robotic-assisted surgery played a central role in making this possible. The da Vinci system enabled high-precision movements and significantly reduced surgeon fatigue, something that would have been extremely challenging if these surgeries were performed laparoscopically.
According to Dr. Shenoy, the robotic platform allowed him to maintain accuracy and composure throughout the long session while keeping patient safety as his top priority.
The entire series of surgeries was observed by Dr. Deepraj Bhandarkar, Former President of the Hernia Society of India, who happened to be visiting the hospital. His presence provided additional clinical validation.
He noted that Dr. Shenoy’s dedication and skill were evident in every case, highlighting how robotic surgery offers enhanced control and safety, especially during high-volume operating sessions. Dr. Bhandarkar added that such sustained precision across multiple hernia repairs is inspiring for surgeons across the country.
The effort was also recognised by Intuitive, the manufacturer of the da Vinci robotic system. The company supported the hospital by ensuring efficient instrument management, smooth workflow planning, and quick turnaround of the robotic platform between surgeries.
Rohit Mahajan, Vice President and General Manager of Intuitive India, stated that the coordinated teamwork and effective use of technology at Kauvery Hospital demonstrate how carefully planned surgical processes can expand patient access to reliable, high-quality care.
Kauvery Hospital reaffirms its commitment to patient safety, error-free surgical practices, and superior clinical results by integrating advanced technology with skilled medical professionals.
The hospital’s expertise in hernia surgery, further supported by accreditation from the Asia Pacific Hernia Society and the Hernia Society of India, reinforces its role as a leading centre for specialised surgical care.
