Neelam Kothari Calls Out Airline After Falling Ill on Toronto-Mumbai Flight

Mumbai: Following a serious medical episode on board her recent Toronto–Mumbai flight, veteran actor Neelam Kothari has called out the airline for negligence and lack of assistance. The actress revealed that she fell seriously ill and fainted after a meal during the flight. While a fellow passenger helped her back to her seat, she said the cabin crew failed to check on her or provide any follow-up medical support.
In her post, Neelam wrote, “I am extremely disappointed with the treatment I received on my recent flight from Toronto to Mumbai. Not only was my flight delayed by over 9 hours, but I also fell seriously ill on board, fainting after a meal. Despite a fellow passenger helping me back to my seat, I received no follow-up care or even a single check-in from your crew. I’ve tried contacting your customer service with no response. This level of neglect is unacceptable. Please address this matter urgently.”

The airline responded to her post on X, saying, “Hi Neelam. Sorry to hear about that! Please get in touch with us via DM to look into this for you and assist accordingly. Thanks! Rose,” reports the Hindustan Times.
The actor also responded firmly to a social media user who had commented flippantly on her ordeal. According to the Mid-Day, the user wrote, “Seems like a you problem. But let me try to get something out of it.” To this, Neelam responded, “You wouldn’t be so flippant had it happened to you, my friend, or one of your loved ones.”
Neelam Kothari made her debut in Jawaani (1984) and gained prominence with films such as Love 86, Khudgarz, Hatya, and Hum Saath-Saath Hain. She stepped away from mainstream cinema in the early 2000s, turning her focus to jewellery design. Two decades later, she made a return to the public eye through reality shows like Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, as well as appearances in Masaba Masaba and Made in Heaven 2.
Despite her television successes, Neelam has yet to return to mainstream cinema. Speaking to Mid-Day, “It's not like I've been offered any earth-shattering roles or even series. I have been offered stuff, but not something that makes you say ‘yes’. It's got to be something that interests me. When I did season one, I was in that space. I was very keen to make a comeback and act again. Now my priorities are sort of shifting a little bit because I'm realising that I am doing a fair bit and my daughter is also growing up. So why not hang with her a little more before she packs her bags and is off to college?”
