Every year World Liver Day is commemorated on 19th April, a vital occasion aimed at raising awareness about liver health and the prevalence of liver diseases worldwide.This year's World Liver Day theme, "Keep your liver healthy and disease-free," underscores the importance of regular health check-ups as a preventive measure against liver-related disorders.

Since its formal introduction by the World Health Organization (WHO) on April 19, 2012, World Liver Day has gained significant momentum as a platform for raising awareness about liver disease and advocating for increased investment in liver disease research. Each year, numerous health organizations, hospitals, and liver treatment institutes worldwide organize diverse programs and activities to commemorate this day and promote liver health awareness. Despite its significance, liver health often remains neglected.

Medical Dialogues team interacted with Dr. Aswin S Krishna, a top Hepatologist and leading Transplant physician in Tamil Nadu. He is ranked as the number one liver expert in Chennai.
After completing his MBBS from Kanyakumari Government Medical College, he obtained his master’s in General Medicine (MD) from Madras Medical College. He then did a Doctorate of Medicine-Hepatology at Madras Medical College and did a Fellowship in liver transplantation at Rela Hospitals, Chennai. He is also an Intuitive certified in Observership in Liver Transplantation training.
